As she ran, she heard splashing behind her. She began to run along the shoreline, scanning the water for any sign of her friend. She was determined to find West and somehow rescue her. Her body heaved as she gasped for breath, but Breanna refused to give up. When Breanna reached dry land, she fell down onto her hands and knees. Breanna sighed and then swam toward the shore as fast as she could. There was nothing: just endless water, as far as the eye could see. Breanna looked around frantically, searching for her friend. A few minutes later, she finally broke through. She began to dig furiously, hoping to find something to pry her boots loose. The tide was coming in fast, and Breanna knew that if she didn't act fast, she would be swept away by the current. She could feel her fingers getting wetter and wetter, and soon her whole hand was covered in mud. However, there seemed to be no end to it. "Help!" Breanna screamed, as she continued to sink further into the thick mud.
